In the United States, during the Great Depression, a housewife dreams of stardom and decides to travel the country with her two daughters - Baby June and Louise - to present her slapstick acts. Based on this true story, lyricist Stephen Sondheim – to whom we owe West Side Story - and composer Jule Styne created a masterpiece that was to become the mother of musicals, strangely enough never performed in France until now.
If Nancy won't travel to Broadway, Broadway will travel to Nancy. Well-known to opera fans, director Laurent Pelly is tackling this classic. He has surrounded himself with a first-rate cast, including, in a “concert hall” format, Natalie Dessay alongside her daughter Neïma Naouri. Humour and emotion guaranteed!
