Tickets cannot be returned or reimbursed, except if the performance is cancelled. Tickets may be exchanged for tickets to the same type of production, in the same or higher seat category, subject to availability at the chosen performance (and provided that any surcharges are paid).

You can request replacement tickets upon presentation of a valid ID or documentary proof of purchase at the box office during regular opening hours or one hour prior to the start of the performance.

If you chose to pick up your tickets at the theatre you can collect them from the Opera’s box office in Place Stanislas, Monday through Friday from 1 pm to 7 pm or one hour prior to the start of the performance. Certain tickets can also be picked up at the box office of the Salle Poirel, from Monday through Friday from 2 pm to 6 pm, but only tickets for concerts that have been scheduled there. If you chose to print your tickets at home, you can print them on regular A4 paper or download them onto your smartphone.

No, you can present your ticket directly from your smartphone on condition that you have enough battery power to set the phone’s brightness to maximum.

The auditorium is divided down the middle: one side has seats with odd numbers, the other has seats with even numbers. Seats with even numbers are located on the right side of the stage (from the audience’s perspective) and seats with odd numbers are located on the left side of the stage (from the audience’s perspective). As such, seat numbers in the same row decrease inwards towards the centre until seats 1 and 2 meet. If the numbers on your tickets increase by 2 (G2 and G4 for example), the seats will be next to each other.

You can book tickets and pay directly by telephone by providing your banking details. Your tickets can then be sent to you by post or picked up at the box office.

You can offer them a gift card to the amount of your choice (between €5 and €500). Gift cards are valid for one year from the date of purchase and can be used once or multiple times to purchase tickets for any of our performances. They can be used at the Opera box office or on the website.

No, the date of validity only concerns the card’s usage. Although you must use it before December 1st, 2020 you can choose a performance scheduled for June 2021, for example.

Yes, we do not carry out identity checks. However, in the case of a reduced-rate ticket, you must be able to present the relevant proof that you are eligible for it.

Audiences

The Opera has two places set aside for people in wheelchairs. Bookings can be made at the Opera’s box office or by telephone at 03 83 85 33 11, Monday through Friday from 1 pm to 7 pm). The Salle Poirel has four places set aside for people in wheelchairs. Bookings can be made at the Opera’s box office or the Salle Poirel at 03 83 32 31 25, Monday through Friday from 1 pm to 6 pm).

Children under two are not allowed to attend concerts at the Salle Poirel.
There is no age limit at the Opera. However, we do advise you to familiarize yourself with the content and length of the performance before booking seats. In order to attend a performance, children must be in possession of a ticket. The Opera does offer a programme of performances for younger audiences that you can consult on the website:  go to the Season page and then the "Young Audiences" category.
Most of our performances are offered to children under 12 at the flat rate of €5.

The Opera has a heterogeneous pricing policy as a means to reach out to a wider audience with tickets starting at €5 for operas and symphonic concerts, along with reduced rates for children, young adults under the age of 26, students, the unemployed, welfare recipients, the disabled, groups and employee organisations.

It takes a minimum of 10 people to form a group. Take advantage of the group rate’s 10% reduction.

At the theatre

The box office opens one hour before the performance and the auditorium 30 minutes before curtain-up. Theatregoers should use the main entrance on the Place Stanislas.
We offer a free lecture in the public foyer one hour before the start of each opera to help familiarise you to the work before you see it (free upon presentation of your theatre ticket).

Performances at the Opera begin on time. Unfortunately, when someone arrives late, they will not be allowed into the auditorium in order to prevent any distraction to the singers, musicians and seated spectators. Latecomers will be able to watch the start of the performance live on a TV screen while waiting for the interval and the opportunity to enter the auditorium.

You don’t need to wear a boa or a three-piece suit! Every fashion style can be seen at the Opera. Opt for clothes in which you feel comfortable. But if you have the urge to put on an evening dress, you certainly won’t cause a scandal!

Operas are generally sung in their original language (Italian, Russian, Czech…). However, all productions are surtitled: Screens have been installed in the auditorium above the stage and on either side to allow spectators to read the translated libretto in real time.

The length of the performance is indicated in the theatre programme and on the Lorraine National Opera’s website (see the performance pages). It is also posted at the Opera’s entrance at the bottom of the grand staircase.

You can obtain a programme at the box office before each performance or from the theatre staff in the lobby before the performance, during the intermission and after the performance. Programmes for opera productions cost €5 and concert programmes cost €2.

You can leave your belongings in the cloakrooms on each level of the Opera. As part of the ongoing security measures travel bags and suitcases are not allowed.

A bar is available 30 minutes before the start of each performance and during the interval. It does not stock more copious fare (such as sandwiches etc..) but it does offer a selection of cakes to accompany your drink and or a light snack.

It is forbidden to photograph, film or record all or part of a performance. However, this ban is lifted for the curtain calls after the performance has ended.

Depending on the opera, there may be one or more intervals or there may be none. Intervals last between 20 and 30 minutes and offer an opportunity to enjoy a drink and a snack in the Public Foyer.
