The Opera’s teams have come together to offer a weekend-long series of concerts, events, and workshops for people of all ages (from 0 to 99!), under the musical and artistic direction of conductor Marc Leroy-Calatayud.

Friday May 6 at 6 pm & Saturday May 7 at 10 am

Concert of young people
This event is the ideal opportunity for the family to share a musical experience together through a specially tailored programme.
For all audiences aged Five and above

Duration 1 hour 20 minutes
(Free. Tickets will be available online only at opera-national-lorraine.fr from April 18: a maximum of 4 tickets per person)

Saturday May 7

1 pm, 1:30 pm, 2 pm, 2:30 pm - Concerts for the little ones
Your youngest family members will be able to experience the joys of music and song in the company of our Orchestra and Chorus artists.
For children aged 6 months to 3 years
At the Opera’s Studio Reyer
Duration 30 minutes
(Limited to a maximum of 5 children with 2 accompanying adults / By reservation only from April 18 at the Opera box office)

2 pm – Pick up the baton!
Learn to conduct your own orchestra in the main auditorium in the company of conductor Marc Leroy-Calatayud. You will be given all the keys! Famous works from the repertoire will be on the programme.

10 am & 2 pm – Makeup workshop
What if you gave our makeup artists free reign to make-up your children? 
Some fine photos may be in the making!

10h & 2 pm  – Costume workshop
Who has never dreamt of donning a stage costume for a moment… Our dressers will be there to advise you and turn you into a character from an opera. Carmen or Don Giovanni anyone?

4:30 pm – Children’s party
1 hour of dance on the stage of the Opera for children, based around the Magic Flute and other pieces of music to cater to all (young) tastes.

Sunday May 8

10 am – Opera Karaoke
KARAOKE, definition in Larousse: Japanese word formed out of kara – empty and oke – orchestration. Take your seat in the main auditorium, and for the more courageous, grab the microphone and sing some of the most famous arias from the grand repertoire. The Opera’s artists will be there to help you!

10 am – A Visual arts workshop based around The Magic Flute
In the company of a visual artist the children draw, glue, fold, and fashion their creation and then take it home. It might reveal a calling and mark the beginning of a vocation!

11 am & 2 pm – Makeup and Prop-making workshop The Parade of Creatures
Some very odd characters can be found in Mozart’s Magic Flute… It’s up to you to make yourself up as a Jellyfish, an octopus, a walrus, a night owl or a strangely funny bird! Are you ready to take part in a musical parade on the Place Stanislas?
For children aged 5 and above

2 pm – Sing with the Opera Chorus!
Come and join Lorraine National Opera Chorus for a moment in the Opera’s main auditorium.

3 pm & 4 pm – Visual Arts workshop based around The Magic Flute

During this 3-day event, a vintage photo booth will allow you to immortalise your visit here in a photograph. Smile, click, and post your picture on the social networks. The most successful one will win a surprise gift!

Create my cuddly toy
In March, draw the cuddly toy of your dreams and send your design to the Opera*: the 3 most original entries will be chosen by a committee of young audience members and produced in our costume studios!
